During the ‘Dry Season’, we receive quite gusty and strong winds here in Kununurra. They are generated by high pressure systems that move the into Great Australian Bight at the Southern and most central part of Australia. The wind is blown from South Australia, across the Great Sandy Desert and eventually North West, to the Kimberley. To capture Lake Kununurra on a still afternoon like this, I study Australia’s barometric weather patterns and predicted wind velocities in the hope of catching the Lake glassed off, like in this example.
